In 2002 Marcelina Martin, the former Director of Druid Heights' Artists Retreat in California , decided to look for artists to join her on her eleven acre property to come together in intentional community. We are  seeking residents and artists for the main house. A painter, writer, photographer, performance artist, or potter would be complementary additions. We welcome inquiries of potential new members by email and letters. There are two of us now, one photographer/writer and one dancer/musician.

We want to share  a safe, loving environment with 3-5 women  and  nurture the creative process. To live in harmonious synergy with each other, our animals and the earth  flows from ecofeminism , spiritual practice and living in close daily contact with the Earth. This is a drug, smoke and alcohol free environment.

We are located ten miles West of Milledgeville, Georgia. The largest town, Macon, is twenty minutes away and Atlanta is 1 1/2 hours north. The most unique feature of this location is that Georgia College in Milledgeville
is the home to the Flannery O'Connor Collection. Her farm Andalusia is now open to the public. I have just completed the photography for University of Georgia's soon to be published book, "Literary Guide to Flannery O'Connor's South".

Piney Woods Colony is situated on eleven acres which are mostly piney woodlands with two creeks. Buildings on  the land include a main house, a large workshop/studio, two small studios, and two sheds. There is space for a large community garden and  a labyrinth or any other outdoor art. One of the sheds could easily be turned into a potter's studio. The  shed has electricity.

Ganesha Academy of Indian Arts currently hostsTabla, cooking and dance lessons here. When the workshop is finished being converted into a house, the main house will be available for rent at $1200/month. It would be an excellent space for events such as weekend workshops by writers, visual artists, yogis, herbalists or other healers. There are electrical outlets, water hook-ups and dump stations set up for three RVs. (As of May 25,2007) Camping also is available.

If you are interested in living and working in a creative, intentional community environment, write marcelinamartin@yahoo.com with info about yourself. Email is preferred first contact, but letters are always welcomed. Please send self-stamped envelope with snail mail inquiries.
